Are You Just a Fan?
Are you on the winning team? Or are you a fan?
If you are on a winning baseball team you could be the star player, Designated hitter, average player, or maybe even a person that has never hit a ball or caught a ball during the season. However, you are still on the winning team! You still get the trophy!
But, if you were only a fan of baseball and liked the winning team you still are only a fan. You may know all the stats of every player as well as all the rules that govern baseball, but you are still only a fan of the winning team.
The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a young Timothy telling him that he was more than a fan. He had fought a good fight and was finishing the race. He was on a winning team!
2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”
So ask yourself these questions:
Am I a member of the winning team? Do I know what the Bible says about how I should live my life and am I trying to prayerfully live it. Am I trusting God for everything in my life? Do I seek out other Christians (players) to help build my understanding and to help others with their understanding?
Or am I just a fan? I know some of what the Bible has to say but do not live as though I believe it! I go through life as I please doing whatever I want, whenever I want to do it, and the things of God do not concern me.
